Hai You Shipping Co., Ltd.’s High-Speed Ferry for the Chiayi (Budai) – Penghu Magong Route
TAI JI JHIH SHIN NO.3, a Coastal Cruiser 400 high-speed ferry, was designed and built by Glow Marine of Singapore, commissioned by Hai You Shipping Co., Ltd., with an investment of approximately NT$240 million.
TAI JI JHIH SHIN NO.3 is equipped with:
- Four MTU 12V2000M86 engines
- Four ZF 3050 gearboxes
- Four Hamilton jet propulsion systems
- Auxiliary power provided by two Kohler 99 ekW generators
The ferry features a black and gold color scheme and is equipped with a hull stabilization system. With a gross tonnage of 498 tons, it can carry 400 passengers and achieve an economical cruising speed of 35 knots. The journey from Chiayi Budai to Magong takes approximately 60-65 minutes.

Operated by Hai You Shipping Co., Ltd., this high-speed ferry services the Chiayi (Budai) – Penghu Magong route. Built at a cost of approximately NT$200 million, TAI JI JHIH SHIN 2 is equipped with four 1450 horsepower MTU engines and four Hamilton jet propulsion systems, along with a unique hull design. It can reach a speed of 38 knots (about 70 km/h) when unladen and 33 knots (about 62 km/h) when fully loaded with 400 passengers. The journey from Chiayi Budai to Penghu Longmen Port takes only 45 minutes (approximately 75 minutes from Budai to Magong Port).
The unique hull design ensures a smooth ride even at high speeds, with waves up to 1.2 meters not splashing onto the front deck.
